Bet on Darts with talkSPORT BET

One dart can rescue a leg. One missed double can turn a match. That tension has helped darts grow from a pub favourite into one of the most watched individual sports in the UK.

At talkSPORT BET, our online sports betting coverage includes darts odds for major televised events and matches across the professional calendar. You can bet before play begins or follow selected fixtures through our in-play markets.

From backing the winner of the World Championship to predicting which player will throw the most 180s in a single match, there are plenty of ways to approach darts betting.

How Does Darts Betting Work?

The principle is straightforward. Choose an available match or tournament, select a market and add the corresponding odds to your bet slip.

For example, you might back Luke Littler to win an upcoming match. Alternatively, you could bet on the correct score, total legs or which player will record the most maximums.

Every selection comes with odds that indicate its potential return. Shorter odds generally suggest that an outcome is considered more likely, while longer odds indicate a result thought to have a lower probability.

Several factors can cause darts betting odds to change. Recent results, confirmed draws, injuries, withdrawals and betting activity may all move a price before the match begins. Live odds can move much faster because they react to events taking place at the oche.

How to Bet on Darts

Follow these steps to place a darts bet:

  1. Sign in to your talkSPORT BET account or register if you are a new customer.
  2. Make a deposit using one of the available payment methods.
  3. Open the sportsbook and select darts.
  4. Choose an upcoming match or outright tournament market.
  5. Select the odds to add them to your bet slip.
  6. Enter your preferred stake.
  7. Check the selection, odds and potential return before confirming the bet.

A price may change between adding a selection and placing the bet. Always review the completed slip before confirming.

Understanding Darts Odds

Fractional odds are displayed by default at talkSPORT BET. A price of 3/1 means a successful £1 stake would return £3 in winnings, plus the original £1 stake.

If you prefer decimal or American odds, you may be able to change the format through the sportsbook or your account settings.

Odds should not be treated as a guarantee. They reflect the estimated probability of an outcome while accounting for the bookmaker’s margin, available information and activity within the market.

Popular Darts Betting Markets

The number of markets offered will depend on the tournament and fixture. Major televised matches will generally have more options than early qualifiers or lower-profile events.

Match Winner

Choose which player will win the match. Unless the market states otherwise, it does not matter what the final score is.

Tournament Winner

An outright tournament bet involves backing a player to lift the trophy. These markets can open well before the draw and remain available as the competition progresses.

The odds will move as players win, lose or withdraw. Once a player has been eliminated, their tournament winner bet will normally be settled as a losing selection.

Correct Score

Predict the exact final score in sets or legs. The available options depend on the format being used.

If a match is first to six legs, for instance, possible winning scores include 6-0, 6-1 and so on. World Championship matches use sets, so correct score markets are based on the number of sets won by each player.

Handicap Betting

A handicap gives one player a virtual advantage or disadvantage.

Suppose the favourite is listed with a -2.5 legs handicap. They must win the match by at least three legs for that selection to succeed. A bet on the underdog at +2.5 legs can win even if that player loses the actual match, provided the handicap covers the final margin.

Total Legs or Sets

Rather than choosing the winner, predict whether the match will contain more or fewer legs or sets than the line displayed.

An over 18.5 legs selection requires at least 19 legs to be played. An under 18.5 legs bet succeeds if the contest ends within 18.

Most 180s

A 180 is the highest possible score from three darts. This market asks you to predict which player will throw more maximums during the match.

Some versions include a tie as an additional outcome. Read the market title carefully before placing your bet.

Total 180s

Bet on whether the combined number of maximums will finish above or below a stated total.

This can bring both players into the selection. A match containing two heavy scorers may attract a higher line than one involving players who rely more on finishing and consistency.

Highest Checkout

A checkout is the combination used to reduce a player’s remaining score to exactly zero. The highest possible finish is 170.

Markets may ask which player will produce the highest checkout or whether the best finish in the match will be over or under a specified number.

First Set or Leg Winner

Back a player to win a particular set or leg instead of the entire contest. Depending on the event, markets may be available for the opening set, first leg or several later stages of the match.

Nine-Dart Finish

A nine-dart finish is the perfect leg. It requires a player to check out from 501 using only nine darts.

You may be able to predict whether a nine-darter will be completed during a match, session or entire tournament. It is a rare achievement, which is reflected in the available odds.

What Should You Consider Before Betting on Darts?

Rankings provide a useful starting point, but they rarely tell the complete story. A player can hold a high position based on results accumulated over a long period while struggling for form in recent weeks.

Before making a selection, consider the following:

  • Recent form: Look beyond one result. Performances across several recent events provide more context.
  • Three-dart average: This measures a player’s general scoring level, although a high average does not automatically mean they won the match.
  • Checkout percentage: Missed doubles can prove expensive, particularly in short formats where there is little time to recover.
  • First-nine average: This can show how effectively a player scores during the opening visits of each leg.
  • 180 frequency: Maximum statistics are especially relevant when considering 180-related markets.
  • Match format: A short race can produce more surprises. Longer matches give leading players additional time to recover from a poor spell.
  • Head-to-head record: Previous meetings may reveal an interesting pattern, but older results should not outweigh current form.
  • Stage experience: Playing at Alexandra Palace or in front of a large Premier League crowd creates a different test from a floor tournament.

It is also worth checking whether the event uses leg play, set play or a specialist rule. The World Grand Prix, for example, requires players to begin and finish each leg on a double.

Live Darts Betting

In-play darts betting begins after a match has started. Markets and prices then respond to the score, player performance and stage of the contest.

Depending on the fixture, live options may include:

  • Match winner
  • Next leg winner
  • Next set winner
  • Correct score
  • Total legs
  • Leg handicap
  • Most 180s
  • Highest checkout

A match can turn in less than a minute, particularly when a player misses several darts at a double. Live prices may therefore move or become temporarily unavailable between visits.

Selected fixtures can be found on the talkSPORT BET live betting page.

Major Darts Tournaments

The PDC calendar contains events with different formats, fields and qualification routes. Some run over several months, while others are completed across a single weekend.

PDC World Darts Championship

The World Championship is the main event of the darts season. It begins in December and concludes in early January at Alexandra Palace in London.

The tournament now features 128 players and uses a set-play format. Players qualify through routes including the PDC Order of Merit, ProTour rankings and international qualifiers.

Our World Darts Championship betting page includes tournament information, contenders and available markets for the Sid Waddell Trophy.

Premier League Darts

Premier League Darts takes place across a series of weekly events in different cities. Eight invited players contest a knockout tournament on each league night, earning points according to how far they progress.

After the scheduled nights have been completed, the leading four players qualify for the end-of-season play-offs. Our Premier League Darts odds cover the competition throughout the campaign.

World Matchplay

The World Matchplay takes place at Blackpool’s Winter Gardens during the summer. It is played entirely in legs and features a field of 32 qualifiers.

Longer matches and the distinctive venue have helped establish the World Matchplay as one of the most important ranking events outside the World Championship.

Grand Slam of Darts

The Grand Slam begins with a group phase before moving into knockout matches. Qualification is based on performances in selected PDC events, ranking routes and designated qualifying competitions.

Its mix of short group matches and longer knockout contests creates several different betting angles across the event.

UK Open

Often described as the FA Cup of darts, the UK Open uses an open draw without a fixed bracket for much of the tournament.

Leading professionals enter at different stages, while the draw after each round can create unexpected meetings. There are no seeded routes designed to keep the biggest names apart.

World Grand Prix

The World Grand Prix has one rule that separates it from every other major PDC event. Players must begin each leg by hitting a double and must still finish on one.

A slow start can leave a player stranded on 501 while their opponent is already working towards a checkout.

European Championship

The European Championship field is determined by performances on the European Tour. It brings together players who have collected enough prize money across qualifying events staged around the continent.

Darts Betting Offers

Eligible customers can view the latest sports betting offers before placing a darts bet.

Promotions have individual qualifying requirements, minimum odds and expiry dates. Read the complete terms before opting in or using an offer.

Darts betting should always be treated as entertainment. Set a budget that you can afford, avoid chasing losses and take a break if betting is no longer enjoyable.
