The Premier League is the Thursday night that darts fans circle in the diary. Eight players, one arena and a knock-out tournament finished before the night is out. That makes it very different from a slow, week-by-week league. Online sports betting is where to find the action when the PDC roadshow returns.

Luke Littler is the current champion. On 28 May 2026 at The O2, he beat Luke Humphries 11-10 after coming through an equally close semi-final against Gerwyn Price. No one got away from anyone in those play-offs. Littler had already won in 2024; Humphries had taken the 2025 final between the pair, 11-8.

This is a PDC invitational, not an event that every tour-card holder can enter. Eight players are picked for 16 league nights in the UK and Europe. Each Thursday consists of four quarter-finals, two semi-finals and a final. Seven matches, then the lights go down.

There is a table, though the format can be misleading if you come at it expecting football. A player may throw the better darts for an evening and still have nothing to show for it after a 6-5 defeat in the first match. A couple of good Thursdays can do the opposite and send someone up the standings quickly.

The 2026 selection was Luke Littler, Luke Humphries, Gian van Veen, Michael van Gerwen, Stephen Bunting, Jonny Clayton, Gerwyn Price and Josh Rock. Littler, Humphries, Clayton and Price made the trip to Finals Night in London. The final-four line-up matters because it shows just how open the weekly race can become after a long season.

There is no 2027 field or venue list to rely on yet. The PDC has not released those details, and the invitations are never merely a formality. Wait for the official announcement, not a speculative line-up.

On a regular night, matches are best of 11 legs. Get to six first and you move on. The winner takes five points, the runner-up takes three and the two beaten semi-finalists collect two apiece. Losing in the quarter-finals brings no points.

After 16 nights, the top four go to Finals Night. There the semi-finals are best of 19 legs, while the final is best of 21. The longer distances are not a guarantee of a better player winning, obviously, but they give quality a little more time to show itself.

The regular meeting order is planned, yet the later draws can be set from the league table. One result can therefore change next week's opposition as well as the points total. That is part of the fun, and part of the complication for anyone betting week to week.

Van Gerwen has won seven Premier League titles, more than anybody else. An extraordinary record. Still, old trophies are not a betting system. The next campaign will have its own form lines, travel demands and awkward pairings.

Tournament winner

This is the long view: who finishes the job at Finals Night? The 16-week stretch matters. So does the ability to pick up points even on a night when the big averages are not quite there. A price can look lovely in February and dead by April. That is the deal with an outright bet.

A player need not be top of the table in February to become a proper contender in May. What matters is whether the performances are improving, whether the route through the draw is becoming kinder, and whether there is enough time left to turn good nights into points.

Night winner

A night winner must win three matches. Begin with the quarter-final rather than jumping straight to the price. The draw can place a player against the opponent they least fancy, and one missed dart at double may end the night before it has really begun.

The venue can add colour too. A loud home crowd will not throw the darts, but it can make a tight last leg feel bigger. Keep it in proportion. Scoring and doubling figures are harder evidence.

Match and handicap betting

Match-winner betting asks for the player you expect to progress. A leg handicap asks for more, because the margin counts. Someone who wins 6-5 has won the match but may not have covered the handicap. It sounds obvious. It is also an easy detail to overlook in the rush before the walk-on.

180s and checkout markets

There may be markets on maximums, the highest checkout or other scoring moments. Here, league position is only part of the story. Recent 180 numbers, finishing and match length are usually more useful places to start.

Displayed prices are correct at the time of writing and subject to change. Before betting, read the rules for that exact market.

Look at the match distance first. Best of 11 is a short sprint, and a single poor turn at a double can turn the numbers inside out. Averages help, but the checkout percentage tells you whether chances are actually being taken.

Take last week's score with a pinch of salt. A 6-1 looks commanding, but who was it against? Four deciding-leg games in one evening may reveal as much as a trophy. Head-to-heads, workloads and the position in the table add useful context.

The Premier League travels a lot, while the same players are usually appearing in other PDC events. That does not make an upset inevitable. It does mean that form is rarely a single clean line on a graph. There is a reason a player who looked unbeatable one Thursday can be made to work hard a week later.
