Play War Live

War is about as straightforward as live casino games get. Developed by Evolution, it's based on the age-old card game in which you and the dealer both receive one card, and whoever has the higher card wins. It’s World War II-inspired gameplay with the simplicity of an online table game. No complex rules, no strategy charts, just a head-to-head showdown decided in seconds. 

Hosted by a live dealer, War is halfway between a classic table game and one of Evolution’s popular game show games. It delivers fast-paced gameplay with the visual polish of a TV production, creating a more engaging experience than standard table games. 

The War casino game is played with a standard 52-card deck, where only card ranks matter, and the Ace is always high. The base game has only three possible outcomes: win, lose, or draw. The main bet is on whether your card or the dealer’s will be the highest and win the round, but you can also place an optional side bet on a tied outcome.

The action takes place in a WW2-style war room, with a map visual around the edges of the table. Your game host is dressed as a war general, and a feature wall of screens and lights in the background adds to the visual effect.  

When betting opens, and you’re ready to play, select a chip from the choices displayed and cover the bet you wish to place on the table. Each time you tap the betting spot, another chip is laid, effectively doubling the bet. Use the undo button to remove your chips.  

Once betting ends, the camera angle switches to a close-up of the game table as the cards are dealt. You and the dealer each receive one face-up card. Whoever has the highest-ranking card wins the round, and payouts are awarded. The game then resets. 

If you both have the same card and there is a tie, you can choose to surrender or go to war. If you surrender, you will lose half of your bet. The other half is returned, and you wait for the next round to begin. If you choose to go to war, you must double your main bet and get ready as the next phase commences.  

Going to War 

When war is declared, the dealer will clear the cards from the table. They will then discard the next three cards from the shoe and deal you a face-up card. Another three cards are discarded, and the dealer receives a face-up card. 

If your card is higher, you win the amount of your original bet.  

If the dealer’s card is higher, you lose your doubled bet.  

If a tie occurs, the process repeats until a winner is determined. This can happen up to a maximum of four ties in a row. If a tie occurs, you will automatically be entered into the next round with your doubled bet, and no further bets are permitted.

The payouts in War are basic: You get paid even money for betting correctly on the main game outcome, plus progressive rewards are offered for consecutive ties in the side bet. You’ll also receive a 10:1 bonus payout on your main bet if you hit four ties in a row when going to war with the dealer.

Aside from the main game and going to war after a tie, the game has one other feature: the tie side bet. You can play the side bet at the same time as your main bet or without placing a bet on the main game outcome at all. It’s important to note that if you don’t play the main bet, you won’t have the option to go to war in the event of a tie. 

If you place your bet on a tie and your card matches the dealer’s card, the 10:1 payout is guaranteed. When you go to war with the dealer, additional ties activate progressive payouts as detailed in the paytable. Each time another tie hits, your payout increases to the next tier, up to a maximum of 200:1 for hitting four ties in a row. Once this point is reached, the game automatically ends.
