Boxing at talkSPORT BET: PPV Main Events Betting

Each year, the most-watched boxing fights are only available at an additional fee via broadcasters and streaming services. Known as pay-per-view (PPV) events, they tend to feature a signature main event title fight preceded by a packed undercard.

The Last Crescendo in Saudi Arabia in February 2025 was a brilliant example of a highly publicised PPV event featuring many of the most talented fighters, such as Artur Beterbiev, Dmitry Bivol, and Joseph Parker.

What Are PPV Boxing Events?

Pay-per-view (PPV) boxing events are typically the biggest fights involving the world’s top-ranked and most famous boxers. Most PPV fights have a title up for grabs, but there are also exhibition fights that require a one-time fee.

While you can watch boxing throughout the year via a standard TV subscription or even on a streaming service like Amazon Prime, PPV events are only available at an additional, one-time fee that you must pay to access the content.

In the UK, most PPV fights cost between £ 14.99 and £24.99. For instance, the blockbuster 2024 clash between Oleksandr Usyk and Tyson Fury was sold for £24.99 in the UK market.

How to Watch PPV Boxing in the UK

There are several ways to stream PPV boxing fights in the UK. The first is to buy the fight via your cable provider. So, in the UK, this means TNT Sports Box Office. Still, you can also purchase most fights in the UK via channels like Discovery+, EE TV, Virgin Media TV, and Prime Video.

Another option is DAZN. Established in 2015, this PPV platform provides access to viewers in 200 countries and is the home of live boxing, MMA, and several other on-demand sports. You can create a DAZN account in the UK to buy and watch the biggest PPV boxing events on the calendar.

The Biggest PPV Boxing Events in History

With many PPV events to look forward to this year, we look back at some of the biggest PPV events in history, using confirmed sign-ups as the metric for their popularity:

2015: Floyd Mayweather Jr v Manny Pacquiao – 4.6 million PPV purchases

The most-watched PPV boxing fight in history was the 2015 fight between Money Mayweather and Manny Pacquiao. Over 4.6 million people paid to watch the bout, which was dubbed “the fight of the century.”

The fight played out in front of a packed house at the MGM Grand Garden in Paradise, Nevada. Mayweather won the fight by unanimous decision, and although it didn’t live up to its pre-fight billing, it remains the most-watched PPV boxing event in history.

2017: Floyd Mayweather Jr v Conor McGregor – 4.3 million PPV purchases

Controversial MMA fighter Conor McGregor was taunting Mayweather for a while before Money agreed to enter the ring in this crossover fight in 2017, sensing a huge payday and even more recognition of his undisputed greatness.

The pre-fight interviews were worth the PPV fee alone. But the fight was also entertaining. Mayweather changed his approach and was determined to do damage to McGregor, pummelling him throughout until stopping the fight in the tenth.

There was never a question about the winner of this one, but the 4.3 million customers who paid to watch couldn’t quite believe that McGregor survived the onslaught for so long.

2007: Oscar De La Hoya v Floyd Mayweather Jr – 2.4 million PPV purchases

Proving that he’s the biggest draw since Tyson in the 1990s, Mayweather has featured in three of the most-watched PPV boxing events ever.

Earlier in his career, he faced Oscar De La Hoya in 2007. De La Hoya was the biggest name in the sport then, but Money prevailed, winning the fight by unanimous decision.

To show how much boxing fans loved Mayweather at the peak of his powers, the PPV fight between Usyk and Fury last year was purchased around 1.5 million times, nowhere near the levels Mayweather achieved in any of these top three PPV events.
