What makes the Epsom Oaks race such a spectacle and revered around the horse racing community? Well, it’s a classic exclusively for fillies, for a start - one of two of the British Classics for fillies.
Only the St Leger Stakes is an older British Classic than the Epsom Oaks, another of the Fillies’ Triple Crown races, which can be attempted for a slice of history.
Here, we preview the Epsom Oaks and provide details on the best odds for this legendary race at talkSPORT BET.
When and Where is the Epsom Oaks?
As always, the Epsom Oaks will run at Epsom Downs Racecourse. It’s the third of the five Classic races of the season and the middle leg of the Fillies’ Triple Crown, sandwiched between the 1000 Guineas and the St Leger.

Famous Recent Winners of the Oaks
As the Epsom Oaks is exclusively open to three-year-old fillies, no horse has won the race more than once. That said, many famous fillies have won the Oaks, writing their name into history for numerous reasons.
2020 winner, Love, ran with the fastest time ever recorded, winning in 2:34.06. For context, that was eight seconds faster than Ezeliya’s win in 2024, highlighting just how impressive her achievement was.
She went brilliantly under Ryan Moore for Aidan O’Brien, a trainer who has won three of the last five Epsom Oaks races.
When Qualify, another Aidan O’Brien horse, won in 2015, she did so with some of the longest ante-post odds in the history of the race. She went off at 50/1, and given that she finished last in the 1000 Guineas earlier in 2015, few saw her triumphing at Epsom.
In the UK, the Fillies’ Triple Crown is achieved when a horse wins the 1000 Guineas, the Epsom Oaks, and the St Leger Stakes. The last horse to achieve this feat was Oh So Sharp in 1985, joining other legendary names like Meld (1955) and Sun Chariot (1942).
In 2025, Minnie Hauk won out of Aidan O'Brien's stable, with Ryan Moore riding.
