The players who have reached major televised finals in the last year automatically qualify for this event. The rest of the field is decided by the winners of specific events on various darts tours.

The top eight players are seeded at the top of each group. The seeded players are those in the top eight positions in the PDC Order of Merit at the start of the event.

Phil Taylor is the only player to have won the Grand Slam of Darts six times, a feat he achieved in eleven appearances. He also finished second once.

Dutchman Michael van Gerwen has won the title three times, a feat matched by Welshman Gerwyn Price, who last won it in 2021.
