You start with a 6x4 set of reels in Aftermath, which you’ll have chances to expand. To win payouts, this game uses scatter pays, where you can match symbols from anywhere on the board, but you’ll need to land at least eight of them.   

The reels feature lower-paying card symbols and higher-paying weapon and character symbols.  

In addition to payout symbols, plenty more are on offer and can trigger fun features.

Thanks to scatter pays and the avalanche feature, there are plenty of ways to win in Aftermath. Whenever a win happens, any symbols involved will explode off the screen, leaving space for new ones to drop in. This continues until no new sequences can take place. 

For every win, the multiplier on the right increases by 1, and this increase is carried over to each subsequent win. This resets for each new spin, except for the bonus and super bonus, which carry over until the end of the feature.  

We’re just getting started with the features, so let’s dive in. 

Wild Symbols  

There are two types of wild symbols: regular and special. In the base game, you can only land regular wilds.  

During Bonus spins, special wilds can hit and will add additional multipliers of x2, and x3, x4, x5, x6, x7, x8, x9, or x10 in Super Bonus Spins. 

Expanding reels 

Initially, the base game presents you with a 6x4 set of reels, but this can expand by up to 6x8 if you land bombs or purge features. 

When this happens in the base game, additional positions unlock during avalanches and reset for each new spin. During the free spins bonuses, these positions stay open until the end of the feature.  

Special Features 

There are four special features to look out for, and they can land in the base game and the bonuses. If more than one arrives on the reels, they’ll follow this order: bomb, upgrade, change, and purge. 

Bomb 

Bombs explode, removing all regular symbols in the eight surrounding positions and any locked borders of the grid, making way for new symbols. It also doubles the multiplier in that spin. If more than one explodes, each one will double the multiplier. It remains sticky during an avalanche until the sequence ends. 

Upgrade 

This replaces itself and a random number of lower-paying symbols with the highest- or second-highest-paying symbol on the reels. 

Change 

Change symbols replace themselves and all regular symbols in the eight surrounding positions with another random regular symbol in the eight surrounding positions.  

Purge 

Purge symbols remove themselves and all wall portions, along with medium and lower-paying symbols on the reels, making room for another avalanche.  

Bonus Spins  

Landing 3, 4, or 5 scatter symbols will earn you 8, 10, or 12 Bonus spins.  

If you land another scatter in this feature, you’ll be awarded 3 more spins. If you’re lucky enough to bag a super scatter, you’ll also trigger the Super Bonus Spins. 

Super Bonus Spins 

If you land a super scatter within your 3, 4, or 5 regular scatters, or you land one in the bonus spins feature, you’ll trigger this bonus.  

One special wild symbol with either 3x, 4x, 5x, 6x, 7x, 8x, 9x, or 10x will be randomly selected and will always land with each spin. You’ll earn an extra three spins if you land a scatter in this feature, too.
