The French Open is the second Grand Slam event on the tennis calendar, following the Australian Open in Melbourne. All eyes will be on the clay courts of Roland Garros as Carlos Alcaraz looks to defend his title and Iga Swiatek tries to make it four wins on the bounce.
Read our French Open betting preview below and gain insight into who you will back to win at Roland Garros at talkSPORT BET Sportsbook.
When and Where is the French Open?
The 2025 iteration of the French Open will be held between May 25th and June 8th. As always, the tournament will be held at Roland Garros in Paris, France, on outdoor clay courts. It’s one of the four grand slam tennis events alongside the Australian Open, Wimbledon, and the US Open.
Men’s Singles: Current Favourites
Carlos Alcaraz is the current favourite for the 2025 men’s French Open title, available at 6/4* at talkSPORT BET. The Spaniard won the French Open in 2024 and he’s much fancied to win it again this year.
He will be disappointed with his quarter-final finish in the 2025 Australian Open, but he has shown the world what a brilliant player he is on clay, and he is the one to beat in Paris.
World number one Jannik Sinner is the second favourite behind Alcaraz, with odds of 5/2*. He followed up his maiden Grand Slam win at the US Open in 2024 with victory in Melbourne, securing the 2025 Australian Open title. The Italian star secured a semi-final finish in the 2024 French Open and will be keen to go one better this year.
Next up is Novak Djokovic, who you can back to win the 2025 French Open at odds of 4/1*. The Serbian superstar might be past his best and more prone to injuries than he once was, but he’s always in with a chance, particularly if he is fully fit.
Djokovic has won three times at the French Open (2016, 2021, and 2023), and while clay isn’t his favourite surface, we certainly can’t rule him out this year.
talkSPORT BET Pick: Alexander Zverev at 7/1*
We think that 2025 will be the year that Alexander Zverev finally wins a Grand Slam title. The German went close in Melbourne, losing the final to Jannik Sinner. He was also the losing finalist to Carlos Alcaraz at the 2024 French Open, showing he has what it takes to go the distance on clay.
Given Alcaraz and Sinner’s short odds, there’s good value in backing Zverev at 7/1* to win the 2025 French Open.
Women’s Singles: Current Favourites
Five-time Grand Slam winner Iga Swiatek is the current 11/20* favourite to win the 2025 French Open. This is because Swiatek has won three consecutive French Open titles (2022, 2023, and 2024) and four overall in Paris.
She comes alive on clay, and though she will be disappointed with her semi-final defeat in the 2025 Australian Open, she’s the one to beat at Roland Garros.
Despite Swiatek’s incredible record in Paris, it’s difficult to ignore Aryna Sabalenka’s exceptional recent form. Though Sabalenka was stunned by Madison Keys in the 2025 Australian Open final, she has three Grand Slam titles to her name and will likely be Swiatek’s closest contender in Paris. At odds of 4/1*, Sabalenka looks good value ahead of the 2025 French Open.
Another one to watch is 2022 Wimbledon winner Elena Rybakina, who reached the 2024 French Open quarter-finals. She’s available at 9/1* at talkSPORT BET, and as the current world number five, she’s more than capable of winning in Paris.
Also attractively priced is China’s up-and-coming star Qinwen Zheng, who you can back at 12/1* to win at Roland Garros this year. Zheng defeated Swiatek on her way to Olympic gold – held at Roland Garros – in 2024, so she has what it takes to win here.
talkSPORT BET Pick: Coco Gauff at 8/1*
Though Swiatek is the hot favourite, we like the look of Coco Gauff at 8/1*. The current world number three won in the doubles with Katerina Siniakova in Paris in 2024 and is a good player on clay, as also evidenced by her 2022 final appearance in the French Open.
Though she only has one Grand Slam singles title to her name, we think it’s only a matter of time before Gauff adds to her 2023 US Open triumph, and she looks a good bet ahead of the 2025 French Open.
Analysing the Trends: Insights to Inform Your 2025 French Open Bets
Here are some betting tips and insights that you can use to inform your 2025 French Open betting strategy:
- Iga Swiatek has won four of the past five French Open titles. Known as “the Queen of Clay”, she only dropped one set in 2024. Though four on the bounce sounds implausible, don’t put it past Swiatek – she truly comes alive at Roland Garros. She will be hunting Rafael Nadal’s record as the only player to win five consecutive titles at Roland Garros (2010-2014) and may make it four in a row in 2025.
- If Jannik Sinner wins the 2025 French Open, he will become only the eleventh man in history to land the title after winning the Australian Open. Since Jim Courier’s 1992 double, only Novak Djokovic and Rafael Nadal have won the Australian Open and the French Open in the same year.
- Though we think Alexander Zverev has an outside chance of winning his maiden Grand Slam title at the French Open in 2025, not many male champions secure their maiden Grand Slam win in Paris. The last time a male player won his maiden Grand Slam title at Roland Garros was Gaston Gaudio of Argentina in 2004 when he defeated his compatriot Guillermo Coria in a pulsating final. If Zverev wins in 2025, he will be the first champion in over 20 years to win his maiden Slam title in Paris.

French Open Tips & FAQs
Novak Djokovic has a strong chance of winning the 2025 French Open. He is one of the top contenders, behind Carlos Alcaraz and Jannik Sinner, who are currently favourites.
Carlos Alcaraz is the favourite to win the men’s singles in 2025, boasting both the game and Grand Slam experience to prevail. Iga Swiatek is an even shorter favourite in the women’s singles, having won three out of the previous four tournaments at Roland Garros and dominated on clay in recent years.
