Lingfield Horse Racing Tips

Lingfield Park Racecourse is one of the busiest horse racing courses on the calendar, in part thanks to being the only racecourse in the UK to hold all three types of racing. It’s been a permanent fixture on the calendar since 1984, hosting continuous jump and flat racing except for during WWII.
All-Weather Flat Racing is held on the slightly undulating and sharp all-weather track, surfaced with polytrack. Patience is a virtue here, although the track lends itself to being very draw-dependent. A slight hill and a dip down into the final turn give it some undulation, but around half the track is flat.
The Turf course wraps around the all-weather track, meaning it’s not as sharp but still provides a challenge, especially at the downhill turn onto the straight. Like the all-weather track, Flat Racing results can be very draw-dependent thanks to the layout, but a balanced horse is often needed to succeed.
Jumps Racing takes places on the outer ring, and although the least sharp of the three the track offers up more abandonments per meeting than any other jumps course. Wet weather plays a big part, with rain making the back straight at the bottom of the hill very boggy, while the main straight giving a completely different ride.
Races to look out for include the all-weather Tandridge Stakes in February and Spring Cup held in March, and the Flat Lingfield Oaks and Lingfield Derby Trials that take place in May.
