At the tender age of 21, Carlos Alcaraz already has the tennis world at his feet. Alcaraz has already reached ninth in the all-time earnings list, with four Grand Slam titles to his name. His first came at the US Open in 2022, followed by the 2023 Wimbledon title and the 2024 French Open. He then won again at Wimbledon in 2024.
With budding aspirations at the start of the 2025 season, he only made the quarter-final of the Australian Open, which matched his best-ever finish in Melbourne. He lost to Novak Djokovic, with the Serbian withdrawing in the semi-finals in his match against Alexander Zverev.
So, let’s look ahead to the remaining Grand Slam events this year as we consider Carlos Alcaraz’s chances of winning more titles in 2025.
Carlos Alcaraz to Win the French Open
At the time of writing, Alcaraz is the favourite to win the 2025 French Open, priced at 6/4* in talkSPORT BET’s French Open odds market.
He’s slightly ahead of recent Australian Open champion Jannik Sinner, though the Italian was brilliant in Melbourne, and as the world number one, he will be confident of adding his first French Open title in 2025.
At 5/4, Alcaraz may be priced a little too thin to be a credible value bet right now. Other than Sinner, Australian Open finalist Alexander Zverev at 6/1* might be a good bet ahead of the 2025 French Open and a better value selection than Alcaraz.
Carlos Alcaraz to Win the Wimbledon
Carlos Alcaraz described it as a “dream come true” when landing his maiden Wimbledon title in 2023. Many consider Alcaraz vs Djokovic to be one of the finest men’s Wimbledon finals of all time. Lasting almost five hours, he recovered remarkably well after losing the opening set 6-1 to the Serbian. In doing so, Alcaraz became the third-youngest winner of Wimbledon after Boris Becker and Bjorn Borg.
After winning his Wimbledon title, Alcaraz admitted that he was falling in love with grass as a tennis surface. He followed his historic 2023 win over Djokovic with a second triumph in London in 2024, defeating Djokovic again in the final, this time 6-2, 6-2, 7-6 in straight sets.
It was Alcaraz’s second Wimbledon triumph and his fourth major overall. As a result, he became the sixth youngest man in history to complete the Channel Slam.
As the defending champion, Alcaraz is currently priced at 7/5* in the Wimbledon betting odds to win it for a third successive year. If he succeeds, he will surpass Rafael Nadal as the most successful Spanish player ever on Wimbledon’s grass, given that Nadal only won two Wimbledon titles during his career.
Carlos Alcaraz to Win the US Open
Alcaraz was the number-one seed at the 2023 US Open following his 2022 victory. However, the Spaniard was dumped out of the semi-finals by Russian Danil Medvedev. Alcaraz had only dropped one set en route to the last four, once again underlining his dominance at Flushing Meadows in the last couple of years.
In the 2024 US Open, Alcaraz was defeated in the second round by Dutch player Botic van de Zandschulp.
It was the Dutchman’s first-ever victory over a Grand Slam winner, and he became the first Dutchman to defeat a top-three seed since Paul Haarhuis defeated Boris Becker in 1991. Needless to say, it was a huge upset and a major disappointment for Alcaraz.
Some within the sport say that it can be harder to predict the US Open winner, simply because it’s the final Grand Slam of the year and a lot can happen between January and September. Form and fitness can come and go in nine months. However, Alcaraz’ maiden Grand Slam came at Flushing Meadows in 2022, so this corner of New York will always be special to him.
Due to his recent struggles in New York, Alcaraz isn’t the favourite for the 2025 US Open. Sinner is the most likely winner with odds of 7/4*, while you can back Alcaraz at odds of 9/4*.
Where Does Carlos Alcaraz Perform Best?
Alcaraz himself has intimated that hard courts tend to bring out the best in his tennis game. On hard, bouncy courts, Alcaraz’s game tends to pose a real threat to anyone. When the ball moves fast but predictably on hard courts, Alcaraz’s offensive game is a well-oiled machine, with the Spaniard capable of stalking unforced errors from his opponents.
Given the comparisons between Alcaraz and veteran Spaniard Rafael Nadal, Alcaraz may also consider his clay game one of his strongest surfaces. It’s fair to say that Alcaraz has enjoyed success on the faster clay courts of Madrid. However, the jury remains slightly out for him over the slower clay courts of Roland Garros, where variety often reigns supreme.
But one of the reasons why Alcaraz is such a great player is that he tends to perform well on all surfaces. In fact, he became the first man in history to win his first three Grand Slam titles on three different surfaces, perfectly illustrating this fact.
So, while he grew up on clay courts, his incredible performances at Wimbledon in the past couple of years show just how good he is on grass, too.
