The IPL climax is on the horizon, with everything to play for as teams vie for a place in the coveted playoffs. Only two teams have been eliminated from the IPL 2024, so everything is still to play for.
Reigning champions Chennai Super Kings are well poised and currently occupy one of four playoff berths. Meanwhile, Kolkata Knight Riders and Rajasthan Royals are just one win away from sealing their place in the end-of-season showdown.
In this article, we explore the state of play in the world’s most exciting T20 cricket league and look at who will most likely make it to the playoffs. We also present the IPL odds available on each team to win the crown at the end of the 2024 season, with the Knight Riders in the driving seat.
Current Favourites to Win the IPL
With 16 points from 11 matches and sitting top of the pile, the Kolkata Knight Riders are the current favourites to win the IPL. Eight teams can still qualify for the playoffs and win the title, with only the Punjab Kings and Mumbai Indians eliminated at this stage.
Here are the current IPL winner odds at talkSPORT BET:

| Chennai Super Kings | 5/1* |
| Sunrisers Hyderabad | 4/1* |

| Gujarat Titans | 500/1* |
Team Form So Far
Kolkata Knight Riders are the current form team in the IPL, winning four of the last five to maintain their position at the top of the standings.
Sunil Narine has been brilliant with the bat for the Knight Riders, hitting 461 runs to rank fifth in the standings. Varun Chakaravarthy has taken 16 wickets for the Knight Riders, behind only Jasprit Bumrah and Harshal Patel in the standings.
Though they’re currently in seventh place in the table, don’t rule out a late-season charge for the Royal Challengers Bengaluru, who have won four of their last five matches after a lousy start to the campaign.
Legendary batsman Virat Kohli is on a mission. With 634 runs to his name, he is more than 100 runs clear of Ruturaj Gaikwad of the Chennai Super Kings, who is in second place as far as the orange cap is concerned.
While the Rajasthan Royals have succumbed to two defeats on the bounce, they will be hoping to return to their early-season form and seal their place in the playoffs with just one more regular-season win.
Sanju Samson is one of the IPL’s hottest batsmen, and he will surely add significantly to his 471 runs as the remainder of the regular season plays out.
IPL Points Table 2024
We’re eleven matches into the IPL 2024 season, and things are heating up at the top of the table, with the Knight Riders and the Royals leading the way on 16 points apiece. Below are the current standings as we head into game week 12 (or 13 for some teams):

| 5: Delhi Capitals | 12 | 6 | 6 | 12 |
| 6: Lucknow Super Giants | 12 | 6 | 6 | 12 |

| 8: Mumbai Indians (E) | 12 | 4 | 8 | 8 |

| 10: Gujarat Titans | 11 | 4 | 7 | 8 |
Who Will Qualify for IPL Playoffs?
The playoffs are the business end of the season in the IPL, and it’s where much of the magic happens. The teams that finish in the top four positions in the regular IPL points table will go on to the end-of-season showdown. The Mumbai Indians and Jonny Bairstow’s Punjab Kings have been eliminated, but everyone else can still qualify.
Given their electric start to the campaign, we can expect the Kolkata Knight Riders to reach the playoffs this time around. At the same time, the two-time IPL winners Rajasthan Royals, given their eight regular-season wins, will also be hoping to qualify.
Though they haven’t had the best campaigns to date, the Chennai Super Kings will be looking to add their sixth IPL triumph by making the 2024 playoffs, while the 2022 champions, Lucknow Super Giants, will be hoping to make up ground and gain momentum as the season draws to a close.
But such is the unpredictable nature of the IPL, you can’t write off any team. Quite literally anything can happen in the remaining games, so don’t be too quick to rule any team out of the race for the playoffs!
