Neil Callan’s rides at Southwell | 30th October 2024

Posted on October 31, 2024November 4, 2024 By talkSPORT BET

I am heading to Southwell for a competitive card, some good racing on.

Starting off with one in the novice stakes for Charlie Johnston, Beta Reader. Not a bad run first time out, expected to improve for the run. It doesn’t look an overly strong race. So in what looks a not a strong race, he might just take that step forward as he’s bread to get a bit further. See  if he can leave that run first time behind him and have a half a competitive chance.

Then we got Machline for James Tate in the Restricted Maiden. Two solid runs to start with. Still a little bit green last time and a little bit free, so they’re going for the hood first time this time, just quieting him down. Nice big horse. They’ve got a pretty hot pot in there to beat, but I expect him to run well from stall one. If not, it’s the final start for a handicap mark and he could definitely make his presence felt going that way.

Then we finish off a Harvard Sound for Tom Clover, very lightly raced, two wins from his last two starts. This horse looks like he’s on the up. He’s working really well. It looks like he’s going to have a nice chance here. I think the surface will suit him in a competitive race. He is a nice horse and I’m just hoping that the draw doesn’t hinder him.
