We’re going to Kempton for five rides. It’s going to be a competitive card, plenty of racing.
Starting off with one for Charlie Johnston, first time out two year old, Pacifist, Australian bred filly, first time out, difficult draw. It’s going to be interesting to see because there’s a lot of them that haven’t run. She wouldn’t have to be a superstar to win this.
Then we’ve got Stanley Spencer. A good course and distance winner for myself earlier in the season. He has held his form quite well. Last start winner, he was very game at Southwell, held on quite well. I think he keeps himself handicapped because he’s never wins by too far, so I’m hoping that he can keep that vein of form going off a rating of 76. It’s a competitive race, but he’s certainly in good form. We’ll definitely have a good chance from a tricky draw, but he should be able to handle it.
Damascus Steel in the staying race or the mile and a half race for Ed Dunlop. I was a winner on him two starts back over course and distance, a little bit of a tricky customer has got to be held up, finish late, but he’s in the form of his life. So hopefully he can keep it going, certainly goes in there with a competitive chance.
Art Fantastique for Tom Ward. Last time good effort at Windsor on very soft ground. He hadn’t run for a long time, so I’d expect him to come on for that run and off a rating of 57, a lightly raced sort, I think from a good draw, he can make his presence felt in which looks a very ordinary race.
Then we finish off with Sophar Sogood for Johnny Butler, a winner over course and distance two starts back for myself, held up and finished very strongly and get up to win. So hopefully he can back up the same from a decent draw in what looks an ordinary looking race.
Five rides, few good chances. Hopefully we’re back in the thick of it and plenty more winners to come.
