It’s the final evening of Racing League action, let’s see which team is going to be the winning team.
Team East, who I ride for, they’ve been going great guns all through the Racing League. I’m coming here for five rides and we start off with Ed Dunlop’s Damascus Steel, up in grade. But he was a good winner with me last start around Kempton. He’s never run around here, but it’s a similar track to Kempton, but the opposite way around. I think this horse is capable, he’s got to step up again in a more competitive race up in class, but he’s in the best form of his life, so hopefully he can take another step forward.
Then we come with Smokey Mountain for Charlie Fellowes, a bit of up and down on his form, but he’s got good form on the all weather career high mark. He has ran well off a higher mark without winning, but the cheek pieces sparked a bit of revival last start at Kempton, so I’m hoping that the cheek pieces are the key for this horse to go and get back into the gear and give him a chance to win.
In the sprint, Expert Agent for Stuart Williams, a little bit hit and miss on his form. He’s a quite a consistent horse on the all weather, so return to all weather was good. One or two starts back at Windsor on the grass where the pace was very hot and he’s in good form. But it’s going to be a hard race. So Expert Agent, just probably a player’s chance.
Then we got Mighty Nebula, Roger Varian. I was fourth on this horse at Wolverhampton the last start in the Racing League. He’s had a few weeks to get a break and freshen up. I do like this horse. I thought the track at Kempton, or the track at Wolverhampton was a little bit sharp for him last start. This track definitely would play to his strengths. A little bit more open and of a galloping track, give him time to find his feet. He stays very well. So we’ll be up there and giving him every chance on Mighty Nebula. I think it is probably my best ride of them all.
We finish off on Moulin Booj, George Scott, very consistent course and distance winner in the past, career high mark, but he looks like a young horse on the up. So I’m hoping that after his last start, when they can carry on, he is in a great vein of form.
So it’s going to go down to the wire for the teams. Hopefully my team can finish off as we started, win most of the races tonight and take the lead from the rest.
It’s a very competitive card as usual, but we’ve got some good rides there and hopefully we can get some winners.
