Friday evening meeting, off to Newmarket. We got six rides, a full card. They look like a good book, so hopefully it’s a good evening for us.
We’ve got Calyxoh. Jane Chappell Hyam in the restricted novice. Still a maiden has been running to a good level of form though. Last time a good sixth, not beaten very far in a Listed race in Newbury. Sets the standard in this race. There’s a couple in there with a little bit of improvement in form, but he sets the standard and hopefully this is his chance to get his head in front.
In the British EBF maiden stakes mile race, I ride a filly against the colts. This is quite an important filly. She is owned by the one and only Tyson Fury, the world champion heavyweight boxer, Big Gypsy King. I haven’t really sat on her. Don’t know much about her, but it’s great to have someone like Tyson Fury involved in racing, so it’ll be an honour to throw my leg over one of their racehorses, so we’ll hopefully see how she goes. It looks a tough ask, but she’s got to start somewhere.
In the mile handicap, I’ve got Fine Gold for Tom Clover. Three runs, not run too bad each time, got a rating of 69, now into an ordinary looking handicap. So I think with the hood and the tongue tie on first time. I’m hoping that he can find a bit of improvement now he goes handicapping off a rating of 69.
Then we’ve got Waiting All Night for Richard Spencer. He’s been running very, very consistent, runs really well on this course, over slightly shorter distance, but stepping up to a mile, I think he should be within his distance now. Trappy little race, very competitive, it’s going to be hard, but he’s running well lately, so hopefully he’ll have a chance.
Then we got Reyaadah Star for Charlie Johnston. Very good filly, been running very well, maiden winner of Kempton. Second last start in really good form, this is a trappy little race but she’s in top form, so I’m hoping that she can keep her momentum going forward.
Then we rounded off with High Violet for David Loughnane in the 6 furlong handicap. This horse has transformed since they put the tongue tie on her. A winner two starts back, hopefully she can keep that momentum going and get another one on the board, but it’s in a very competitive race.
A good book of rides, hopefully we can get a couple of winners.
