The Monaco Grand Prix is one of the most prestigious races on the F1 race calendar. Alongside the 24-Hour Le Mans and the Indianapolis 500, the Monaco Grand Prix forms the third leg of motorsport’s ‘Triple Crown’.
Raced over 78 laps through the narrow streets of Monaco, this race has been on the F1 schedule since 1955. Once described by former F1 driver Nelson Piquet as “like riding a bike around a living room,” it is a true test of driving accuracy and bravery.
With precious few passing opportunities, speed and reliability are paramount here. Whether it’s the tunnel in Sector 2 or the tight opening bend of Sector 1, plenty of iconic elements of Monaco’s street circuit make it unique.

Monaco Grand Prix Predictions and Best Bets
If you’re looking for interesting betting angles ahead of this year’s Monaco Grand Prix, we’ll provide predictions based on recent and historical forms around Monaco.
Lando Norris to Finish on the Podium
That’s right. Lando Norris is doing everything he can to become the leading British driver in F1 this season. So far, Norris is fifth in the points standings, with McLaren’s car proving faster and more durable than Mercedes’.
Norris finished inside the top ten at last year’s Monaco Grand Prix, but McLaren is likely to be even more competitive this year.
At Melbourne’s Australian Grand Prix, Norris finished third, with teammate Oscar Piastri in fourth. Melbourne is a street circuit of sorts, so this should bode well for Norris around Monaco, provided he has three good qualifying sessions.
It’s Hard to Look Beyond a Red Bull 1-2
Red Bull has been in imperious form again this season, sitting almost 50 points clear of Ferrari in the constructors’ championship with just five races elapsed. Verstappen has won the Monaco Grand Prix twice in his young career, prevailing in 2021 and 2023.
Sergio Perez is yet to get off the mark on the French Riviera, but he is more than capable of playing the role of able deputy to strengthen Verstappen’s grip on this year’s world championship.
Fernando Alonso Will Finish Comfortably in the Points Again
Evergreen Spaniard Fernando Alonso is a two-time winner at Monaco, just like Verstappen. He won back-to-back races in 2006 and 2007 and has long enjoyed his time around this circuit. Alonso and Aston Martin clinched second place in 2023, finishing well clear of both Mercedes cars and the two Ferraris.
With the Aston Martin still looking competitive this year, Alonso finishing well inside the top ten should be one of the safest bets of the weekend. There’s every chance he could push the likes of Lando Norris for a podium place, too.
Alonso recently agreed a new multi-year contract with Aston Martin, securing his future with the team until the end of the 2026 season. This is a significant vote of confidence in the 42-year-old, who still has the mental and physical attributes necessary to compete at the top of the grid.
Who Won the Monaco Grand Prix in 2023?
The 2023 Monaco Grand Prix was a procession for Red Bull’s Max Verstappen. The Dutchman was fastest over all three qualifying sessions, starting the race in first on the front row of the grid.
Aston Martin’s Fernando Alonso was a surprise second in qualifying, with the veteran Spaniard eventually holding onto second and securing a place on the podium.
Verstappen went on to win by almost 28 seconds. There was celebration in the stands as Frenchman Esteban Ocon clinched a shock third place for Alpine. Ocon became the first Frenchman on the Monaco podium since Olivier Panis in 1996.
