Heading to Southwell today for three rides. The pick of them will be Surrey Shadow, trained by Tom Clover. I was a good second on him first time out at Doncaster, and he subsequently put in two very good runs. One was ahead of Glass Star at the end of last season, where he was just beaten into third. His form is very good, and he’s off a good rating. It’s a very competitive race, but it’s his first run after a winter off. Hopefully, he’s a stronger, more mature horse now and can start the new season in good fashion.
I am heading to Qatar on Saturday for the big meeting over there, the Amir Sword meeting. I ride one horse for Bahraini trainer Jaber Ramadan—Swift Asset, owned by Sheikh Ebrahim Bin Mohamed Al-Khalifa. He’s been a revelation in Bahrain over the last six weeks—a very fast horse with a plum draw too. It’s a very competitive race, but hopefully, he can make his presence felt and put Bahrain on the map.
