Neil Callan’s Rides at Brighton – 07/06/2024

Posted on June 7, 2024June 7, 2024 By Neil Callan

Off to Brighton today, six rides. And not a strong card, but very competitive and we’re starting off in a small field with Union Island for Charlie Johnston and the pick of his phone last year. Second, first time out was very good, it’ll be good enough to have a chance of winning, this form went off a little bit, but first run of the year. I’m hoping that he’s a bit stronger and a bit more mature. He would definitely have a chance.

Then we ride Kondratiev Wave. Good winner last start over 7 for Tony Carroll. His horse is running well. Back up to an extended 7 furlongs just short of a mile will be no problem to him. So, from a good draw I’m hoping he can carry on the winning form.

Then in the next we got Stopnsearch for Brett Johnson. Will be hit and miss, but last few runs have been decent enough on the all-weather coming back on the grass for after a break. Dropped down the weights got a bit defined, but hopefully drop down the weights. We’ll give it a competitive chance in a not a very strong field.

Then we ride Night Bear for Tony Carroll and been very consistent lately. Was a good fourth on him two runs back. He was a good third at Brighton last start. The track conditions will suit him and fast ground will be perfect for him, so he’s definitely got a good one with a chance.

Mumayaz from Tony Carroll. Was a good winner on him on the all-weather earlier in the season. Little bit in and out on his form but not a bad run at Windsor two starts back over six. And yeah, listen, 6 furlongs or an extended 5 furlongs on fast ground might find them out a little bit, but small field at the go a little bit too fast. He might be there to pick up the pieces late. That’s mammaz.

And then in the last we got Zachary from Charlie Johnston. He is not running too bad. He’s a dual winner before on the all-weather. Plenty of runs, not won too many times, but he’s dropped down the weights and he has run well up and brightened before. Hopefully they drop in the weights and return to Brighton. We’ll see him come to the fore that Zachary.

Competitive card, good rides. Hopefully we can hit the board.
