Liverpool v Tottenham Hotspur Preview & Betting Options

Posted on April 25, 2025April 25, 2025 By Armin Kianmehr
  •   Date: Sunday 27th April 2025
  • Time: 16.30 GMT
  • Location: Anfield, Liverpool
  • Odds: Liverpool 2/9* – Draw 11/2* – Tottenham Hotspur 9/1*

Liverpool need only a draw against Spurs at Anfield to secure the club’s second Premier League title. The Reds go into this fixture in good form, while boasting an impressive home record against Spurs, so their fans will be expecting nothing less than three points.

Tottenham fans, on the other hand, can’t wait for this season to end. Spurs sit 16th in the league table and, barring a decent run in the Europa League, have had a season to forget.

So, with the title on the line for Liverpool and given that Spurs have nothing to play for domestically, what can we expect in this clash at Anfield? Read our preview and learn how to bet on the action today at talkSPORT BET Sportsbook.

Liverpool v Tottenham Hotspur Betting Tips

  • There are usually goals when Tottenham Hotspur meet Liverpool. In the previous five Premier League clashes between these teams, 28 goals have been scored, averaging 5.6 goals per game. So, betting on over 2.5 or 3.5 goals being scored at Anfield could be a good wager, particularly with Liverpool in party mode.
  • Both teams have found the net in the last nine Premier League matches between Liverpool and Spurs. So, if you’re planning a BTTS accumulator this weekend, Liverpool v Tottenham is a decent game to include.
  • Spurs have only won at Anfield twice since 1998 and have a dismal record here. They’ve also conceded four goals in their last three appearances at Anfield in all competitions. So, while anything can happen in football, we can’t look beyond the Liverpool victory that will secure the home side the Premier League title.

This Fixture in History

This will be the fourth meeting between Liverpool and Tottenham this season, as the teams also met in the EFL Cup semi-final. Liverpool won the tie 4-1 on aggregate, following a hugely impressive 6-3 league win at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, which has already gone down as one of the greatest PL matches ever.

Historically, Liverpool have dominated this fixture, beating Spurs 92 times and losing only 50 times against their North London rivals since their first meeting in November 1909. There have also been 42 draws between these teams.

In the Premier League era, Spurs’ record at Anfield is dire. As a sign of things to come, the first Premier League clash between these two at Anfield ended 6-2 in Liverpool’s favour. Since then, Spurs have only won at Anfield in the league twice – once in 1993 and again in 2011, though there have also been a few cup wins of note, including Tottenham’s 3-1 League Cup win at Anfield in 1998.

In other words, history suggests that Tottenham will struggle in this fixture, particularly given the added incentive Liverpool have to win the PL trophy on their own terms in front of their fans. Bottom line? Consider backing Liverpool to win this one, perhaps by at least 2.5 goals.

Liverpool Man to Watch: Mo Salah

Liverpool’s squad is full of talented players, but Mo Salah is the Reds’ main man. The Egyptian has been in exceptional form, even by his own high standards, and has scored 27 goals and laid on 18 assists for his team in the league.

He looks destined for another Golden Boot and will look to end the season strongly. He also scored twice against Spurs in that 6-3 win earlier this season and bagged a penalty in their 4-0 EFL Cup win. So, don’t bet against Salah scoring for a fourth time against Tottenham in this fixture.

Tottenham Man to Watch: Dejan Kulusevski

While there hasn’t been much to cheer for Spurs this season, Dejan Kulusevski remains a fan favourite. The talented Swedish midfielder has scored seven league goals and laid on four assists for his teammates.

He’s an exciting, direct player who is always willing to run at the defence to take his side up the pitch. While Brennan Johnson tops the scoring chart for Spurs this campaign and Richarlison is back in the fold, expect Kulusevski to provide Tottenham’s main goal threat at Anfield this weekend.
