Leeds United v Bristol City Preview & Betting Options

Posted on April 24, 2025April 25, 2025 By Armin Kianmehr
  • Date: Monday 28th April 2025
  • Time: 20.00 GMT
  • Location: Elland Road, Leeds
  • Odds: Leeds United 11/20* – Draw 14/5* – Bristol City 9/2*

After securing a much-deserved promotion to the Premier League under Daniel Farke, Leeds’ attention will immediately turn to the English Championship title, as they take on Bristol City at Elland Road on Monday night.

Fixtures under the lights in Leeds are always raucous affairs, but the locals will be even louder than ever as they expect their side to clinch the title in the season’s remaining weeks.

Bristol City will arrive in Yorkshire looking for a win to keep their play-off hopes alive, so we can expect a great game of football on this televised Monday night match.

Join us as we preview Leeds United v Bristol City and explain your betting options at talkSPORT BET Sportsbook.

Leeds United v Bristol City Betting Tips

  • Leeds United are the form team, winning four of their last five games in the English Championship. Bristol City, on the other hand, have won three of their previous five, but a 3-1 defeat to Luton Town at Kenilworth Road last time out has dampened their promotion aspirations. While the Robins are a tough nut to crack, we don’t expect them to spoil the promotion party at Elland Road.
  • Leeds have been dominant over Bristol City in this fixture in recent years. In fact, the Robins have only beaten Leeds once this century – a 1-0 win at Ashton Gate in September 2016. In the 18 other fixtures since 2000, Leeds have beaten Bristol City 15 times, and there have been three draws. This further highlights Leeds’ supremacy, and while anything can happen in football, Leeds look likely to secure another victory as they battle for the league title.
  • Leeds United v Bristol City is typically a low-scoring affair. In the last four games, only five goals have been scored. Moreover, both teams have only found the net in two of the previous seven meetings. Therefore, if you’re planning a BTTS accumulator, back both teams not to score. Also, in a totals bet, backing under 2.5 goals being scored could be a wise wager, given the fixture’s recent history.

This Fixture in History

Leeds United and Bristol City have only met 45 times since 1921. Leeds have won 27 of these matches, while City have only won eight. There have been ten draws between the teams.

In nearly 100 years, the Robins have only won at Elland Road four times, and they haven’t managed this feat since a 3-1 triumph in League Division One in November 1979.

While Leeds have enjoyed the upper hand in this fixture, recent clashes between the two have been close affairs. Just one goal has separated the teams in four of the last six outings, and their match at Ashton Gate earlier this season ended goalless.

So, if history is a viable guide, we expect Leeds to win this game by a narrow margin, perhaps 1-0 or 2-0.

Leeds United Man to Watch: Joel Piroe

Leeds’ top scorer, Joel Piroe, helped himself to four first-half goals in his side’s riotous 6-0 victory against Stoke City, and quite frankly, he should have scored more. His four-goal blitz at the weekend took him to 19 goals in 44 Championship outings, putting him two goals ahead of Norwich’s Borja Sainz in the race for the Golden Boot.

Expect Piroe to be hungry for more when Bristol City come to town. With the creativity of Dan James and Manor Solomon on either wing, Piroe will likely have several chances to score his 20th goal of this successful campaign.

Bristol City Man to Watch: Anis Mehmeti

Albanian forward Anis Mehmeti has enjoyed a productive season for Bristol City so far, notching 12 goals in 40 appearances for the Robins. It’s his best goalscoring return for City by far, after he managed one and four goals in his first two Championship seasons, respectively.

Mehmeti will hope to finish the Championship season strongly, and his goals may help the Robins secure a shot at Wembley glory in the playoffs. If Bristol City are to come away from Elland Road with anything, Mehmeti must be at his best.

Leeds United v Bristol City Betting Options

There are many ways to bet on Leeds United v Bristol City in the Championship. Below are some of the most popular markets for this fixture:

  • Match winner: Back Leeds United or Bristol City to win this game in a standard match winner wager. You may also take the draw out of the equation with a draw-no-bet wager.
  • Total goals: Bet on over or under a specific number of goals being scored. Remember, the last four games between these two have only seen five goals scored, so historically, it’s not the highest-scoring fixture in the league.
  • First scorer: Will Joel Piroe continue his excellent run of form and score another on the way to the Golden Boot? Back Piroe or any other player as the first or anytime scorer in this match against Bristol City.
