Who are the Runners & Riders? Cheltenham Gold Cup 2025 Ante-post Favourites

At talkSPORT BET, we offer competitive ante-post odds for all races at the 2025 Cheltenham Festival, including the iconic Gold Cup. At the time of writing, the following runners are the Gold Cup ante-post favourites:

Galopin Des Champs 1/1*

Trainer: WP Mullins

Owner: Audrey Turley

Galopin Des Champs is aiming for a hat-trick of Cheltenham wins as he returns in 2025 under jockey Paul Townend.

The favourite often wins the Gold Cup – the only favourite not to win the race in the past five years was Al Boum Photo when he missed out on the main prize in 2021 when he was also bidding for a hat-trick of wins.

One of the reasons Galopin Des Champs is so heavily favoured is that he’s practically faultless going left-handed over fences, and his imperious recent record at Cheltenham speaks for itself. It’d be difficult to look elsewhere at this stage.

Fact To File 4/1*

Trainer: WP Mullins

Owner: John P McManus

Galopin Des Champs’ stablemate Fact to File is the second favourite for the Cheltenham Gold Cup, a surprise to some, though he rode well at Cheltenham in 2024 and defeated Galopin Des Champs in the John Durkan earlier this year.

Mark Walsh on Fact to File was impressive at Punchestown, and many referred to it as the race of the year so far.

It’s certainly done a lot for Fact To File’s chances ahead of the Gold Cup, with many positing that he has what it takes to beat Galopin Des Champs once again when the action gets underway in March.

Gerri Colombe 10/1*

Trainer: Gordon Elliot

Owner: Robcour

Gerri Colombe, most likely under J W Kennedy, will look to the likes of Plus A Tard and Native River as he hopes to become yet another horse to follow up a Cheltenham Gold Cup place with a win.

Though he disappointed punters at Down Royal and Leopardstown, Gerri Colombe was within touching distance of Galopin Des Champs going into the final fence at Cheltenham last year and will look to repeat his performance in this year’s race.

Banbridge 12/1*

Trainer: Joseph Patrick O’Brien

Owner: R A Bartlett

Banbridge has shown he can win over fences at the highest level, with six wins from eleven efforts. He has also won at Cheltenham in the past, with victory in the G2 Arkle Trial back in 2022.

One of Banbridge’s biggest issues is the ground, and a sniff of testing ground could be worrisome for the JP O’Brien 9-year-old. He certainly has what it takes, but the conditions will need to be right for him to capitalise in the Gold Cup.
