Sheffield United will be confident of securing all three points in this Championship fixture against Hull City, which will be played under the Bramall Lane lights and live on Sky TV.

Join us as we preview the Sheffield United v Hull City Championship odds and find out how to bet on this fixture at talkSPORT BET.

Sheffield United v Hull City Betting Tips

  • The Blades are the form team going into this fixture, and we expect them to win in front of their home fans. United have only lost one home game all season, against Burnley, so we don’t fancy Hull to upset the odds. Back United to win by over 1.5 goals to boost your odds, given the gulf in class between the two teams.
  • Things have picked up for the Tigers since Ruben Selles’ arrival, and they’ve won some crucial points at the start of 2025, including in that impressive 3-3 draw against Leeds United. However, Hull’s away record isn’t great, so we can’t see them beating Sheffield United, who are particularly strong at home.
  • Hull City haven’t beaten Sheffield United in the Championship for almost seven years. The Tigers’ last win came in a 1-0 victory at home in February 2018. Hull have failed to score in their previous four meetings with the Blades, so consider backing Sheffield United to win to nil in this January clash.

This Fixture in History

Sheffield United have met Hull City 75 times since 1915, winning 35, drawing 20, and losing 20. They have the upper hand over their northern rivals.

In fact, the Blades have not lost against Hull since 2018 and have only conceded one goal against the Tigers in seven years.

The teams last met at Bramall Lane on league duty in January 2024, with United winning 1-0 on the day. Earlier this season, Sheffield United ran out 2-0 winners when they visited Hull City in September, asserting their recent dominance over the Tigers.

Sheffield United Man to Watch: Gustavo Hamer

Sheffield United haven’t been prolific in front of goal, as evidenced by their top scorer, Gustavo Hamer, who has six goals to his name.

The midfielder also has five assists for the Blades, matched by Callum O’Hare, his midfield partner. Hamer struggled in his first season in a United shirt after joining from Coventry City, but he’s now the key man in the midfield for Chris Wilder’s men.

Hull City Man to Watch: Joao Pedro

Though not the most famous Joao Pedro in English football, Hull City’s Brazilian star is one of their most important players.

The centre-forward has found the net five times in 19 appearances, and his ability will be crucial if Selles is to keep the Tigers in the Championship. Watch out for Abu Kamara and Mason Burstow, too, who play either side of Pedro and form an impressive front three at this level when they’re at their best.
