Arsenal v Chelsea Preview & Betting Options

Posted on March 12, 2025March 12, 2025 By Kane Forster

Date: Sunday 16th March 2025
Time: 13.30 GMT
Location: Emirates Stadium, London
Odds: Arsenal 3/4* – Draw 13/5* – Chelsea 17/5*

After failing to win at Old Trafford, Arsenal’s title challenge seems all but over, with the Gunners now 15 points behind league leaders Liverpool.

But Arsenal v Chelsea is always a huge affair, as the capital’s two biggest teams do battle. Enzo Maresca’s side have Champions League qualification to play for, and three points at the Emirates will do their chances the world of good.

Join us as we preview Arsenal v Chelsea in the Premier League and discover your betting options at talkSPORT BET Sportsbook.

Arsenal v Chelsea Betting Tips

  • Arsenal have an excellent recent record against Chelsea in the English Premier League. In fact, the Gunners have only lost to their rivals once in the last ten Premier League meetings between the two. Given Arsenal’s impressive home form, we expect them to win this match against Chelsea. However, Enzo Maresca’s improved team will likely make things uncomfortable for the Gunners.
  • When Arsenal meet Chelsea at the Emirates, both teams usually score. In the last ten meetings, both teams have scored in seven games. So, if you’re considering Arsenal v Chelsea as a BTTS fixture, recent history suggests this is a decent game to consider in your accumulator.
  • Cole Palmer’s recent struggles in front of goal have been well documented, as have Arsenal’s lack of a recognisable number nine. So, if you’re looking for a left-field suggestion for first or anytime scorer at the Emirates, Marc Cucurella is a decent option. The full-back has scored two in his last two Premier League matches for Chelsea and represents a good value pick for anytime scorer.

This Fixture in History

These London rivals have met 65 times in the Premier League era. Arsenal have the upper hand with 26 wins to Chelsea’s 20, and there have been 19 draws. Chelsea have only won seven times in the Premier League at the Emirates (or Highbury).

The first meeting between these two was in November 1907, when Chelsea defeated Woolwich Arsenal 2-1 in League Division One. Since then, these two great clubs have met 210 times on official business. Chelsea have 66 wins, while Arsenal have 84. There have been 60 draws.

Arsenal have dominated proceedings in all competitions in recent history. In the last 20 meetings, Chelsea have only won four times. Going into this one, Chelsea would probably settle for a draw, but if Arsenal have any title aspirations remaining, they must record their 85th competitive victory over the Blues.

Arsenal Man to Watch: Declan Rice

Declan Rice is the beating heart of Arsenal’s midfield. The England international typifies everything positive about the Gunners. He came up with the goods at Old Trafford last weekend, securing an important point.

He’s also a set-piece specialist and one of the reasons why Arsenal are so dangerous from corners and free kicks. While Arsenal’s title challenge may have been derailed by their absence of a fit and firing number nine, their number 41 is undoubtedly their key player.

Chelsea Man to Watch: Enzo Fernandez

After receiving much criticism following his expensive arrival, Enzo Fernandez is quietly developing into one of Chelsea’s most important players. This term, the Argentina international has five assists and four goals in the league. He also has 53 key tackles at the heart of Chelsea’s midfield and is forming a strong partnership with Moises Caicedo.

We expect a tough midfield battle, and whoever comes out on top between Rice and Fernandez will have a big say on how this game ends.
