When is the UEFA Champions League 2024 Final?

Posted on January 18, 2024January 18, 2024 By Rachel Stuart

The UEFA Champions League has long been the pinnacle of European club football. Previously known as the European Cup, the rebrand to the UEFA Champions League in the early 1990s was a transformative moment for Europe’s football elite.

It has increased the prestige and exposure of the competition immeasurably in recent decades. Although domestic titles remain the bread and butter of Europe’s biggest clubs, continental success is also an increasingly important yardstick for managers and players alike.

As we head into the second half of the 2023/24 season, attentions turn to the knockout stages of this year’s competition.

2024 UEFA Champions League Final Date and Time

This season’s UEFA Champions League final will be staged on Saturday, 1st June. UEFA has already confirmed that the kick-off time will be 8 pm BST.

Where is the 2024 UEFA Champions League Final Being Held?

London’s iconic Wembley Stadium will play host to the 2023/24 UEFA Champions League final. Following the postponement and relocation of the 2019/20 Champions League final, which saw tournament hosts moved back 12 months for future finals, Wembley is staging the 2023/24 final instead of the 2022/23 final.

It will be the third time the new Wembley Stadium has hosted the Champions League final, after successful occasions in 2011 and 2013. It’ll be the eighth time Europe’s premier club competition will be staged in the English capital.

Which Teams Are Most Likely to Contest the 2024 UEFA Champions League Final?

It feels like there are four teams with a good chance of landing a European title this summer. Pep Guardiola’s Manchester City remain the number-one force to be reckoned with. They are the 15/8 favourites* with talkSPORT BET to win their second Champions League. That’s despite the Citizens seemingly looking below their imperious best in the English Premier League, with Liverpool stealing a march on City domestically.

City still have plenty of match-winners in their ranks, none more lethal than Norwegian hot-shot, Erling Haaland, whose output is the envy of all other teams in the Champions League.

German giants Bayern Munich also look to be in great shape for another Champions League tilt. Bayern are going great guns in the German Bundesliga and appear to have found a readymade Robert Lewandowski replacement in England striker Harry Kane. The former Tottenham ace has seamlessly slotted into the Bayern XI and has notched 21 goals in just 15 appearances for his new employers, as well as four goals in six Champions League matches.

Although the Bundesliga title looks like being a fierce battle between Bayern and current leaders, Bayer Leverkusen, Bayern have the squad to compete on both fronts. Keeping Kane fit could be the key to them advancing to the final. The last 16 draw has been kind to them, having been paired with Italian side Lazio who are struggling down in seventh in Italy’s Serie A this term.

Real Madrid are another team that cannot be discounted this season. Real have hit the ground running in the 2023/24 La Liga campaign and look on course to stroll to the domestic title at a canter. Much of their fine form has been down to the form of English sensation Jude Bellingham, who has shone brightly since his move from Borussia Dortmund last summer. Bellingham has been the goalscoring midfielder that Real have lacked for some time, with the 20-year-old notching four goals in five Champions League games so far this season.

Like Bayern, Real Madrid have also been given a somewhat fortuitous draw in the last 16 of this season’s Champions League. Red Bull Leipzig will be Real’s opponents, having finished runners-up to Manchester City in Group G. Leipzig are well in contention for a top four finish in the Bundesliga, but their inexperience in the latter stages of the Champions League could count against them.

Arsenal are also on the rise again, with Mikel Arteta rejuvenating the Gunners in the last 18 months. This term, the Gunners look like genuine Premier League title contenders, and if they can keep key players fit, a Champions League bid is not out of the question either. They face a Porto side in the last 16 who narrowly pipped Shakhtar Donetsk to second place in Group H. Meanwhile, Arsenal topped Group B with relative ease.
