We’re off to York today and it’s the start of the Dante meeting at York. Probably one of my favourite racetracks in the country and always a great meeting, great racing, great prize money. I’m going for one ride today and that’s for Aleezdancer in the sprint handicap. I was a winner on him last season at Doncaster. He was a very unlucky loser in this race last season where I didn’t ride him.
He got no run whatsoever and his form has been a bit up and down since then, but really good fifth in the Steward’s Cup at Goodwood last year where I rode him and this horse’s chances are always down to as much rain as possible. The falls will make it massively in his favour. So keep an eye on the weather. If it keeps raining and it gets towards soft to heavy, it will play massively to his strengths. So looking forward to all a dancer to start of a good week.
Looking at the racecard for the rest of the day, for the Duke of York Stakes it’s quite an open group too for sprinters. But one I like is Montassib, with duo William Haggas and Cieren Fallon.
He’s a winner of his last two starts, winner first of this year and his record coming back to sprint distance with a little bit of juice in the ground is three from three. So, watch out for Monte Sib, I really like him in the Duke of York
Looking to the Musidora Stakes, I like Friendly Soul from John and Katie Gosden. Unbeaten, looks like a very classy filly on the up and coming into Group Three company, she’s going to take a bit of a beating.
